Vegan and attending Thanksgiving at families home Help?

Ok so I’m 13 and vegan and every year I cook my separate meal since my entire family is omnivorous,I love to cook, I don’t want my family stressing over what to make me, and I don’t want to get stuck with plain vegetables. This year instead of staying home we have to go to my aunts house and she always has problems with me bringing foods since we’ve attended family parties there. She has even gone to the extent to gossip about my food when she’s sitting three seats down from me. Anyways I want to know what the best method is to go about bringing a large meal for myself since I am bringing a slice of tofu nut-loaf instead of turkey, vegan mash potatoes, and stuffing. Im also wondering if I should bring a dessert seeing as I wanted to make a vegan pumpkin cheesecake but now I’m reconsidering since i would have to bring a separate container for the dessert .Oh I have one last question, what type of food container would be best I have several bento boxes since I bring my lunch at school in them so would that be best to bring my meal in. P.s.o theY.A. Trolls I have been vegan for 3 years and don’t intend on changing so don’t give me the vegan kids aren’t healthy rant because my pediatrician says im perfectly healthy.

In all honesty, I don’t know how you can make this situation more comfortable for yourself. We can’t change others or how they feel about veganism so at this point, do your best to take care of YOU. Bring the food you mentioned and make enough so that you can share with others. I think this will be the best way to make it less awkward. You could even call ahead of time to let her know you will be taking care of the mashed potatoes- see if that works. Also, if you would like dessert, bring that too. Your relatives could try it and see just how delicious vegan food can be (I had some vegan blueberry pie today and it was amazing).
Also, can you talk to your parents about this? I’m not sure if this is your mom or dad’s sister but they might be able to give you some advice or insight.
Good luck and enjoy your Holiday regardless of what others think or say ;)

I agree, bring enough for everyone, atleast for one or two things. Then it won’t feel to them as of vegans are too good for their food. If you share, they’ll probably be nicer. If not, well that’s their problem not yours.

im sorry (but if your mean than im not) but vegetarians are just.. stupid. i mean, if you just dont like mean, then thats fine but if you dont eat because you think your “hurting the animals” than ur retarded. THEY’RE ALREADY DEAD!!

I say: “Who cares what she thinks.”

You can take care of yourself and so you have every right to bring your own separate meal. You could encourage people to try your loaf if you prepare more than one serving. People are often afraid of things they don’t understand. They might end up liking your vegan dishes. Your pumpkin recipe sounds delicious. If you are strict than I would say to bring your own dishes and packaging. Bento boxes sound fine if you have plenty of room for everything.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Some people don’t have real lives, so they have to make drama by talking about other people. Your aunt is one of them, so just ignore her. Pity her, if anything.

The bento boxes will be just fine.
